Iceland - Our Trip in Words & Images by Maggie & Julian Sale -  2012

Maggie and I have been planning this photographic trip to Iceland for the past year or so.   Actually, Maggie has been doing most of the planning for which I am forever thankful.  She is so good at researching trips and has a much better memory than I for all the names of places and sites we plan to visit.  My job is to look after the technical stuff for which Maggie says she is forever thankful.  Guess we make a good team that way.

Recently I have been doing some testing with my camera gear to answer once and for all the following question:
Is my gear inferior to Maggie's thus explaining why she always takes better pictures than I?
  • Sadly, I have concluded that it is the photographer and not the gear!
  • So ,I am determined to correct this.  You, my dear friends, are invited to judge for yourselves as our trip progresses.   My dream is to be close - be kind!

We are spending the summer in the UK for the first time since 2003.  We had an absolutely glorious summer that year and they have not had another one nearly as good ever since.  So here's hoping this is the year for another great summer.  This blog will cover our trip to Iceland from the day we leave on June 22 (Jayce's birthday) until the day we arrive back in UK, July 11.

End of summer update.  UK has had wettest summer on record.  Apparently the jet stream stayed over England much longer than normal and thus the great summer in Iceland, which we were very happy to have.  The wet weather has been more in the form of multiple showers with few days totally socked in, so it has not been all that bad.  In fact, there were many days that several of our Canadian friends said that they would be happy to trade their hot and very humid days for a few cool days with a bit of rain.
